On Friday, October 23, 2009, Lieutenant Wilfred K. Hill, of the Rhode Island State Police Training Academy, received the Community Leadership Award from the NAACP—Providence Branch.
The award was given at the 96 th Annual Freedom Fund Dinner at the Marriott Hotel in Providence and hosted by the NAACP—Providence Branch.
Lieutenant Hill is a 17-year veteran of the Rhode Island State Police. The award was given in recognition of his dedication, commitment, and exceptional work within the minority community of the State of Rhode Island. The award also commends Lieutenant Hill for his outstanding leadership as a diligent advocate on all matters of diversity and equal opportunity.
In addition to his responsibilities at the Training Academy, Lieutenant Hill also coordinates the Community Outreach Program for the Rhode Island State Police. The C.O.P. Program brings troopers into classrooms in the urban areas of the State to act as role models for the students.
Ms. Sandy Riojas, a fifth-grade teacher at the Martin Luther King School in Providence presented the award to Lieutenant Hill at the ceremony.
